Combining copper, zinc, and tin, C44300 admiralty brass is a low-cost alloy with good heat transfer and high corrosion resistance. Ameritube’s 100% Made in USA, vertically integrated copper tube manufacturing in Hillsboro, TX leads its product line; its distribution arm supplements that output for heat-transfer and pump-barrel applications.
Material
Copper, zinc, tin
Admiralty brass is composed of zinc, copper, and tin. Copper provides increased heat transfer while zinc provides corrosion resistance. In applications such as condensers and heat exchangers cooled with fresh, salt, or brackish water, these tubes are very useful. They are found in oil refineries, power plants, and other industrial applications.
- Low-cost alloy with good heat transfer and high corrosion resistance
- High-quality tubing with exceptional corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, and formability
Oil & gas
Pump barrel service
Pump barrels or sucker rod pumps used in oil drilling also use admiralty brass because of its corrosion resistance. Even though the pumps typically last between 6 months and 1 year, admiralty brass is preferred for improved longevity over carbon steel and remains below the price of materials such as Monel 400.
- Sucker rod pump barrels and oil-drilling equipment
- A practical step up from carbon steel for corrosion exposure
Heat transfer
A proven exchanger alloy
One of the most commonly used heat-exchange alloys, C44300’s usage goes back over 70 years. Successfully built and maintained C44300 admiralty brass heat exchangers and power-plant condensers have been in service for over fifty years. Ameritube’s copper tube manufacturing leads its product line, with distribution available when customers need complementary alloys.
- HVAC and refrigeration
- Power-plant condensers and industrial process cooling
- Plumbing, potable water, hot water, and chilled water systems
